APPROVED EXPORTER

The approved exporter status simplifies export formalities by allowing the authorised exporter to make out origin declarations on invoice or any other commercial document, regardless of the value of the originating products in an export consignment. The authorisation for an approved exporter is granted, upon application, by the Customs Authorities.

The origin declaration is also called statement on origin, or statement of origin. The statement on origin is a valid proof of preferential origin and it replaces the EUR 1 certificate.

The exporter is responsible for the statement on origin and the information provided being correct and should be prepared to submit all appropriate documents proving the originating status of the products at the request of customs authorities.

The exporter doesn’t need to sign approved exporter’s declarations, because the exporter has already, when applying for the authorisation, committed to answering for these declarations in accordance with the authorisation procedure.

The customs authorities supervise the use of the approved exporter’s authorisation and they can also withdraw approval from exporters who abuse it. The approval procedures depend on national rules.
